atbt_cover_issue_03-1

I may be a little slow on the draw, but issue 03 from these fine kids at atbt is AWESOME! Everything from the cover painting by Eric Louie, to the countless interviews and amazing layout makes me glad that the Witt and Kane are making it happen.

I love nothing more than seeing good people doing something they love and bringing out the best in everyone. SO grab a copy around town or peep www.atbt.ca

Take me out to the ball game

May 20, 2009

calgary_vipers

Calgary Vipers home opener is tomorrow night, May 21, at Foothills Stadium versus the Long Beach Armada. Tickets are very affordable and there is not a bad seat in the stadium. I know that a lot of people who have never been to a baseball game think its boring, but give it a chance, you might just get hooked! Go Vipers Go!

MAX ULIS.LORNEB.PIRAHNA PIRHANA.FAT PAT. JUNE 6th. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

May 19, 2009

lightashow2

So a few of us decided that we needed a fresh party that has some cutting edge music and a new venue. We then figured that we might as well invite some friends so we hooked up with our friends Max Ulis, Pirahna Pirahna and Fat Pat.

Alongside Vancouver Canada’s Lighta! crew Max has been pushing his dubstep and glitched out digital dancehall sounds up and down the west coast. Lighta!’s Dubforms parties in Vancouver have showcased some of the finest talent Dubstep has to offer. Max has appeared alongside the likes of Skream, Benga, Hatcha, Loefah, Kode 9, The Bug, DZ, Ghislain Poirier, Youngsta, Dj C, Filastine, Knifehandchop, Deadbeat, and the legendary Remarc.

Check out Max Ulis on www.maxulis.com

LorneB has been bringing music to Calgary people for 10 years now and is part of the record label Homebreakin Records.

Our friends Pirahna Pirahna are two fella’s from Calgary who are breaking ground with new minimal, bass heavy, melodic sounds. These two are definitely on the way up and can be found pushing their new sounds on their new blog.

www.therinseout.com

Fat Pat is part of the PK sond crew who basically have the baddest soundsystem in Western North America. They run a stage at the world renowned Shambhala Music Festival and have been bringing great music to Calgary for a long time now. Pat’s music is all low end and he is going to run the system into the ground.

Come join us as we listen to good music on a loud stereo.

Corner of 1st and Stephen Ave. SW
Tell the door guy you were invited by Lighta!, Homebreakin, TheRinseOut or PK Sound.

Good Peeps – Zak Pashak

May 19, 2009

Zak Pashak is the owner of the Broken City Social Club and director of the Sled Island Music and Arts Festival. Never afraid to take on a challenge, Zak has directed his entrepreneurial drive into piecing together a central hub for the creative-minded in Calgary. As Sled Island heads into it’s third year, he is making a conscious effort to program more local bands along side critically acclaimed international artists that would not otherwise perform in Calgary. He’s also a renowned foodie and can’t get enough of playing the game of Magic these days. -Drew Marshall
