SHOT AT THE DARK – Raleigh

May 31, 2010

Author Kurt Vonnegut once mentioned that his epitaph should read, “The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music.” This statement couldn’t be more than true when speaking about the omni-present power music has on the world around us. From the speckled patter of rain fall, to the thunderous roars and screeches of passing trains, everything has a rhythm. A way of keeping time, a way of making the world seem to run smooth like clock work.

Brock Geiger, and Clea have taken hold of this worldly harmony, and not only melded themselves in it, but brought music to a new height here in Calgary. Their classical feel, with warm threaded song writing, makes it only comparable to that of the rhythm of a heart beat.

SHOT AT THE DARK is proud to present RALEIGH.

SHOT AT THE DARK is presenting you with Raleigh, in this special announcement of Musical Chairs, coming June 12th at 1401 10th ave SE. Here you will experience Raleigh, the Magnetic North, and Reuben Bullock.

Thank you to Brock, and Clea for being a part of the show.

Thank you to Brieanne Elise, and everyone for watching.

SHOT AT THE DARK is produced by Nicole Irene Dyck, Reuben Bullock, Justin Huculak, and Brock Mitchell.

SHOT AT THE DARK – Daniel Huscroft

May 27, 2010

Creaking wooden stairs, torn wallpaper, and scattered stories surrounded this latest location of SHOT AT THE DARK. You can’t help but feel a sense of security when walking into a home, even with that eeriness of unkempt vacancy.

Daniel Huscroft, from British Columbia, like many other artists, is always moving, always moving these stories through the cities that build up this world of listeners. Though with a suitcase full, its always that comfort of home that brings us memories of song.

The same is said for the warmth and reassurance of Daniel and Zav, with their homegrown backgrounds, and travelled feet and voices.

Daniel’s prolific new CD, Here Is Just For Now, will help you clarify the definition of home.

SHOT AT THE DARK is honoured to present Daniel Huscroft.

Thank you so much to Daniel and Zav for being a part of the show.

Thank you for watching ( i couldn’t wait to wait to show you).

SHOT AT THE DARK is produced by Nicole Irene Dyck, Reuben Bullock, Justin Huculak, and Brock Mitchell.

May 26, 2010

The amazing local band, FRIENDO, is kicking off their cd release tour with a spell bounding show at the SHIP AND ANCHOR tomorrow night (May 26th). They will be joined by Grown Ups, making this a night not to miss.

Friendo is a three-piece, guitar-driven band largely inspired by ‘90s experimental rock, ‘70s punk and ‘60s pop. Their songs range anywhere from breezy, effortless jams, to pulse-pounding post-punk gems. The multi-instrumentalist members love to mix harmony with noise, creating their own seasonal landscape.

Anatomy of Intrigue

May 24, 2010

In its capacity to be both foreign and intimate, while simplistic and utterly complex, the human body is a fascinating phenomenon. Through the careful collection specimens dipped and frozen in plastic, Dr. Gunther Von Hagens has captured and explored this fascination with Body Worlds, which can be viewed at the Telus World of Science. This collection also features a cross-sectional camel and the promise to astound you. With over 200 specimens to look at, Calgarians have another awesome way to spend an afternoon.

There's more to camels than their humps.
