SHOT AT THE DARK – Jocelyn Alice and Calvin Locke

February 14, 2011

Whether it’s love at first sight, or a growing admiration towards someone after knowing them for years; a bond between two lovers is something that is unbreakable, for it remains even in broken hearts for eternity.  The sound of a piano, or the strum of a guitar can sweep you off your feet into a whirl wind of a relationship between your memories and a song. Or you find yourself  going back to rhythm of the drums and the message of the lyrics that speak to you the most. In either case, this love, this stitch in your side created by the sound of lovers telling their stories, shape you in the most astounding ways. This love that may last for a night, or for an eternity, will change you into a person with experience, and enlightenment.

Jocelyn and Calvin have both been such huge influences on SHOT AT THE DARK, where Calvin has been around since the early beginnings, and Jocelyn has only just begun, their bound to their music, and it has been bounded unto us.

SHOT AT THE DARK is proud to present Jocelyn Alice, and Calvin Locke:

Thank you Jocelyn and Calvin for being a part of the show.

Thank you all so much for watching.

SHOT AT THE DARK is produced by Nicole Irene Dyck, Reuben Bullock, Justin Huculak, and Brock Mitchell.

Win a Photo Shoot

February 12, 2011

It’s New York Fashion Week and I know that there are plenty of style mavens here in Calgary that are eating up all the juicy gossip and devouring the gorgeous collections being presented on the
runway (I’m a big fan of Jason Wu’s lace-inspired ensembles).  But
for those of us that aren’t privy to the exclusive world of haute
couture, there is still a way to get your glamour fix in.  LPX Photography, OHC Beauty and Model Mayhem are teaming up to present a prize pack any aspiring model/actress/waitress would kill for:  a half day photo shoot,  professional makeup  and wardrobe styling and a minimum of 10 fully edited photos.

To win this photo shoot, check out the contest details on LPX’s Facebook page as there are multiple ways to gain entries. Contest closes on February 20th,  so get your entries in before you miss out on your chance to be the next top model (for a day at least). Good luck!

The Slow Money Movement

Exploring Slow Money: An Evening with Woody Tasch

Sign up for an exciting evening welcoming Woody Tasch, founder of the Slow Money Alliance, to explore an alternative way of doing business and investing.

Slow money means many things but it is essentially about offering alternatives to the way we invest our money. It offers opportunities to put our money where our mouth is – literally. Kerry Trueman of the Huffington Post wrote: “Slow Money gets right to the heart of everything that’s ailing our economy and corroding our culture. . . It offers a formula for a new kind of capitalism in which farmers’ markets and stock markets both flourish.’‘

This exciting event will explore the nature of Slow Money and what it means for us in Calgary. It will be about creating genuine wealth and celebrating a new generation of entrepreneurs, consumers and investors interested in creating a vibrant and durable future.

The evening will offer thought provoking and inspirational speaches from:
Woody Tasch – Founder and chairman of the Slow Money Alliance and “the prophet of modest profit” – click here to read an interview with Woody Tasch.

Kris Vester – Owner of Blue Mountain Biodynamic Farms & president of Slow Food Calgary

Rob Sinclair – Owner of Conscious Brands™ and community mortgage innovator

When: Wednesday, February 23rd from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Where: John Dutton Theatre – 2nd Floor WR Castell Central Library – 616 Macleod Trail Southeast
Cost: Tickets are $10 online or $12 at the door.

SHOT AT THE DARK – Behind Sapphire

February 7, 2011

As most stories of awakening, or inspiration go, it all starts with a moment of uncertainty, a moment where the elements have suddenly changed in someone’s life that are no longer of their norm.

It’s that untangle moment where we can no longer grasp what is happening around us. SHOT AT THE DARK, which generally starts with a small email, and an unfamiliar acquaintance, leaves us in this constant state of curiosity.

Behind Sapphire, a group of amazingly open minded and warm heart musicians from the west coast, was keen on becoming part of the show, and lead me into what was an amazing gift of music. We are never sure what to expect with each band or place we meet, but it was Behind Sapphire that took the episode under it’s wing and made it their own.

With their unique sound, and desire, we are proud to present Behind Sapphire, as our newest addition to SHOT AT THE DARK:

Thank you so much to the people of First Alliance Church.

Thank you to the amazing group that is Behind Sapphire.

SHOT AT THE DARK is produced by Nicole Irene Dyck, Justin Huculak, Reuben Bullock, and Brock Mitchell.
