DIY Ingredients

Chemical free, eco-friendly and inexpensive. Listed below are my tried and true recipes for some staple house cleaners that I believe all you awesome Calgarians should try!

I barely passed Chem 10 in high school, so please take my word for it that these DIY house cleaners are easy to make. Seriously, no lab coat or gloves required!

All-Purpose Surface Cleaner

Make cleaning easier by purchasing a spray bottle at the dollar store. Put 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of vinegar into 1 cup of warm water. Pour into the spray bottle and shake. Add a few lemon, lime or orange rinds for a nice scent. Surface cleaner is ready!

If there’s a few stubborn spots, sprinkle a little extra baking soda on the spot, spray with some cleaner and scrub away.

Glass & Mirror Cleaner

Mix ½ a cup of vinegar and ½ a cup of water. Pour into the spray bottle and shake. Add a few lemon, lime or orange rinds for a nice scent.

Toilet Cleaner

Pour in 1 cup of baking soda, followed by 1 cup of vinegar. Wait 1 – 2 minutes and clean with a toilet brush. Flush.
