Calgary’s Own ‘Lloyd the Conqueror’ Gets A Trailer!
Here’s the debut of the 100% Calgary born and raised LARP’ing comedy ‘Lloyd the Conqueror‘, starring Evan Williams (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Brian Posehn and Mike Smith. It’s your classic ‘boy meets girl, boy recruits girl to fight in a LARP’ing league with his friends to get a passing grade in college’ tale. This marks the first full length feature for Calgary director Mike Peterson (Eddies: The Documentary, The Secret Lives of Robots) who co-wrote it with Andrew Herman. The comedy was shot in Calgary back in the fall of 2010 and is actually set in our fair city. Sharp eyes will recognize our downtown skyline, Sandy Beach and the legendary gaming store ‘The Sentry Box’ among others used as locations.
Currently, Peterson and producer/actor Brendan Hunter have been touring the flick across North America at various comic/cosplay conventions. This weekend they’ll be premiering it at FantasiaFest in Montreal. When can we see it, you ask? A release date has yet to be finalized but January of 2013 is a good possibility as well as a free summer screening later next month. Until then you can check out this interview with star Evan Williams that ran on Electric Playground this week.
