Name: Michael Bernard Fitzgerald
Occupation: Singer and songwriter
Website: ilovembf.com

Q: Tell us a little about yourself:

A: I grew up in Calgary and love being outdoors on my bicycle. My family lives here and I always enjoy time spent in my hometown.

Q: How did you get started in music?

A: My parents bought me a guitar when I was young and I started making up songs. As I got older the “making up songs” became more officially ‘writing’. I’ve been surrounded by a lot of good people and very fortunate in music making.

Q: How would you describe your musical style?

A:We always set out to have fun. The style stems from that. I think I’ve grown a lot in the last few years and the music on the (soon-to-be released) Yes album reflects that. Super excited for that.

Q: What do you love about “love” so much? It’s part of your music, you encourage making out at your concerts, and it’s even in your Twitter handle.

A: Love is the best. Keeping it as a priority seems to make life easier.

Q: You’re part of an elite group of Calgary movers and shakers as part of the “grate” hall of fame on Stephen Avenue. What’s it like to have your face put on the sidewalk for all to see?

A: It is ‘grate’.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your upcoming tour?

Not much of a tour. Just hitting a couple cities. I’m most looking forward to playing Calgary. I haven’t played the Grand in almost 3 or 4 years.

Q: Last, but not least, what makes Calgary awesome?

A: The people, my family and the bike paths.
