Dragon Fli Empire gets you lucky and makes you laugh… almost at the same time
Homegrown home-boys Dragon Fli Empire (DFE) just did us all a huge favour and came out with a new track and a video that certainly tickles the funny bone.
DFE team DJ Cosm and Teekay grace our inner-ears with their new song “Lucky Day”, complete with gritty break-beats and some seriously smooth lyrics. Lyrics so smooth in fact, if you’re entertaining someone special, put this on your playlist, turn down the lights and see what the “lucky” in the song title actually stands for. You can thank DFE for getting you to second base (in a safe and consensual manner, of course. Condoms people).
Although DFE’s super tight new track is nothing to snicker at, Back 2 Rap, the group’s YouTube piece, will definitely get you laughing. The recent release of this mini-movie/music video is the best cliché cop bit I’ve seen in a long time. Complete with fake mustaches and a ridiculous yo-boy wanna be-gangster, watching this vid is definitely time well spent. And as a bonus, Back 2 Rap will get your head nodding. DJ Cosm spins while Cam the Wizzard speaks the truth about hip hop and real rapping rappers.
DFE is pretty much local hip hop royalty now, and by the sights and sounds of it, we can all agree they deserve it. But what I’d really like is to let the rest of the province, country, world, know just how epic Calgary’s music scene is by spreading the word about DFE, because they certainly represent. Hippity hop on over to Twitter, FB, YouTube, Pintrest, etc and share the shit out Dragon Fli Empire’s goods, and I guarantee infamy will be all of ours… muwahahahahhaaa!
