The 2012 Zombie Walk, A Shambling Success
As a zombie horde shuffled by onlookers on Stephen Ave last Saturday, a sweet old couple from Kitchener looked on in a combination of puzzlement and amusement. “Oh this is just wonderful, do they do this all the time?” She asks me. I tell her we do this every year, it’s the 2012 Calgary Zombie Walk. The event drew in over 1000 of the grossest looking life-challenged Calgarians and a small band of survivors armed with the latest in Nerf technology. The event kicked off at Olympic Plaza with organizers Jack and Zowie, who made a fun looking zombie White Stripes, pleading with the unruly crowd to keep the bloody hand prints to a minimum. The route took us down Stephen Ave to 4th Street then South to 17th ave.
The zombie apocalypse was pretty well organized. On my walk back downtown I only counted 6 bloody hand prints. Well done you undead bastards…
I braved the horde and waded in deep with my trusty camera, check below for pictures…
