Happy Friday, Gangnam Style
I love the interwebs so much sometimes. It’s amazing the kinds of creativity that flourishes online that makes us laugh and cry and just plain wonder why. Last week we saw the creation of Binders Full of Women inspired by Mitt Romney’s lovely affirmative action statements. This whole summer saw an endless stream of “Call Me Maybe” tribute videos like this hilarious clip from the Harvard men’s baseball team. And now the latest Internet sensation that’s blowing up YouTube is Korean pop star Psy with “Gangnam Style”. The song has created its own Macarena-like dance sensation with a galloping groove that could prove to be popular at Stampede (if people even remember this fad by then).
In the meantime, some awesome local peeps have paid homage to this fun song by making their own Calgary-inspired k-pop video. There’s gangnam going on at the Peace Bridge, hockey rinks, City Hall, at the mall and more. Even the Timbits go gangnam. The best part is the Calgary Tower flame – watch for that awesome bit of CGI.
So as you’re procrastinating at work we present to you this superfluous ditty to end your work week. Happy Friday!
