One Book, One Calgary: Celebrate the Awesome
Not to brag, but Calgary is Awesome has it right – we are one awesome city. For their 100th birthday, the Calgary Public Library wants to celebrate that awesomeness with the third annual One Book, One Calgary. The book: Neil Pasricha’s The Book of Awesome.
One Book, One Calgary has two aims this year – to get everyone in Calgary reading together and celebrating how awesome our city is. The initiative is basically a city-wide book club – bringing together a huge group of people over one topic. The book, which initially began as a blog, showcases the little things that make life awesome, and how sharing them can make it even better.
November’s month of awesome will be kicked off with a launch party this Friday, Nov. 2nd, at the Central Library’s John Dutton Theatre. Calgary’s Poet Laureate, Kris Demeanor, will kick off the evening with a special performance, followed by several notable Calgarians talking about what makes our city so great.
If you can’t make the launch party, but would like to get involved in One Book, One Calgary, there are a couple ways to participate:
- Join in with book club – read The Book of Awesome.
- Stay up to date with the awesome – visit onebookonecalgary.com for event info, book discussion, and more.
