Friday night at 6:00 PM opening just before Artawareness which starts at 7:00 PM (ugly poster here)
This is Keelin, and technically she’s my parents dog but if you asked her she’d probably say she likes me better. She’s a golden retriever and she’s about 6 years old. She’s fully grown but she still looks like a puppy, I think she might be the dog equivalent of a dwarf.
She’s partial to dog treats (no way!), making weird groaning noises when she’s being pet, lying down with her frog legs sprawled out and lying on her back with her tongue hanging out. When she gets extremely excited about something she’ll run in a 3-5 foot circle for about 5 minutes.
She’s a big wuss and chapeau could probably put the fear of god into her.

OK, i really love dogs- like, an unnatural amount, so it was only a matter of time before I stole a series from VIA showcasing all the most awesome dogs out there. And naturally, i am going to start with the best dog in town!
This is our dog, Chapeau. He is the raddest dog ever.
Nicknames: Peau, The Peauster Boy, Peaubot, Wiggle Bum, and Monster
Favorite pastimes include getting chased, chillin with ‘purple people eater’ (see picture #1), getting carried around, big walks, snuggling, eating treats in bed, mooching popcorn, and macking mad bitches at the dog park with his brother, Shaka (see picture #3)
Dislikes: skateboards and not having legs to lay on.

Great markets are the heart of all truly great cities. This Saturday, Calgary’s heart beats for Market Collective 4 at the Carpenter’s Union Hall in Kensington (310 10st street NW) so it’s rather fitting that this is the post-Valentine’s day, Love Themed addition of the event.
Angel Guerra and Angela Dione created the Market Collective last summer as an independent method of showcasing the works of local artists, artisans and musicians. Undoubtedly, the Collective has been one of the most influential components of Calgary’s new grassroots movement by covering uncharted grounds for networking, entrepreneurialism and adventure in our youthful city.
The event runs tomorrow from 9 – 5 and asks for either $1 or a food bank donation at the door. Inside the hall, you may shop 50 unique and independent, Calgary vendors. The first 50 people through the doors in the morning will receive FREE art and the first 200 people to purchase will enjoy a FREE Cappuccino/Latte. As the Market Collective tradition goes, the Roasterie provides FREE coffee all day long. The Union Hall stage will also be dawned by a dozen acts using sound equipment provided by Block Social, a local studio.
When I pool together my previous Market Collective experiences, I can vouch that I always leave with a handcrafted item, a warm drink, a handful of new friends and the feeling that I was a part of something. What can be better than that?
So if you haven’t already heard, the Liquidation World on Macleod Trail (just south of Glenmore) has a HUGE selection of Urban Outfitters stuff right now all for 75% Off. I guess one of stores burned down, so this was all the stuff that was salvageable. It’s totally a crazy mess but there are some seriously good finds if your willing to spend a bit of time and dig. Most of the stuff is girls, though they did have a few nice Pendleton flannels for guys.
I know there’s still some snow on the ground and it’s a little cold to hit the skatepark, but if you want to plan some summer road trips, check out skateparktour.ca
The site has information, 360 pics, and video of skateparks from all over Alberta and BC.
