As a festival featuring 16 obscure bands, we were pleasantly surprised when tickets sold-out almost immediately. This success points towards Canada’s growing attention to the new-wave of underground music in addition to the curatorial power of Weird Canada (or so I like to think). Read more

One of the most incredible events to ever hit Calgary, is now going to be covered daily by CIA. Here at CalgaryisAwesome we are proud, and thankful, to announce that we are now one of Sled Island’s supporting sponsors. So keep your eyes and ears open for all the details on venues and listing for this unreal musical event starting June 30th until July 3rd.

We would like to thank the likes of Drew Marshall, Colin Canning, and Zak Pashak for welcoming us into being a part of Sled Island.

Chow Down in Cowtown – CHARCUT Roast House

April 25, 2010

Chow Down in Cowtown is an (almost!) weekly account of Calgary’s most awesome eats from Ceci n’est pas un food blog.

Piggy Paperclip!

CHARCUT has gotten a lot of positive buzz and fans since it opened almost two months ago in the swanky Hôtel Le Germain downtown. B. and I were in the area last month to check out Decidedly Jazz Dancework’s production of 2010: A Tap Oddity (which was really good, btw) and so we decided to drop in and see what the fuss was all about.
