Good Peeps – Devin Morrison

He’s the general manager at Teatro, one of the nicest restaurants in Calgary. He’s sponsored by Stereo Skateboards, best known for being the company owned by Jason Lee. He’s got a terrific wife and a beautiful daughter. All that and he’s only 27 years old. Have a look at some photos and read what Devin Morrison has to say about Calgary.
What makes Calgary so Awesome?
The most awesome thing about Calgary is definitely the people. There are a lot of good ones here.
Favourite Calgarian of all time?
Dwight Pineau.
What is the most awesome restaurant in Calgary?
Teatro Ristorante En Eotecha.
You have really worked your way up at Teatro. How did you get started there and how did you end up being the general manager?
I have worked at Teatro for almost nine years now. Crazy. I did start at the bottom but had an amazing manager who trained me to be very efficient and helped me build a great work ethic. I always made sure to ask lots of questions and do my absolute best.
What’s coming up that’s new and exciting with Teatro?
We have so much going on around here! The latest is that we just opened up a small cafe in Olympic Plaza. It’s called Ca’ Puccino and it’s awesome. Great coffees, amazing breakfast and lunch paninis and it’s very affordable. Definitely check it out when you have a chance. Cute girls and great service doesn’t hurt it either.

Describe your perfect Calgary day:
Coffee, and then skate with some bros for a good six hours. Barbecue and have some good wine, put my kid to bed and then chill with my wife.
How is skating for The Source? Can we expect the video anytime soon, or will it be awhile yet?
Skating for The Source is the best. They have done a lot for me over the past nine years and for that I am very grateful. They have a great group of people working at the office and all of the shops, Kensington in particular, who always make walking in there a pleasure. We are working on a video, not sure of the release date at this point but I’m guessing close to Christmas. The team is more solid now than it has ever been and I think a lot of people will be surprised when this video drops.

Where is the best place to shop in Calgary?
Safeway.
Best place to be on a Saturday night?
Hart Ramp.

Best place to be on a Sunday morning?
Phil’s for breakfast is always a good idea.
Where is your favourite day trip from Calgary?
Just not having to work and being able to get out on the streets is definitely a nice day trip for me. As far as getting out of the city, the trip out to Cochrane is pretty nice. It has a great skate park and the weather always seems to be so nice out there.
What is it like raising a child in Calgary?
It’s good. My daughter, June, is in a great school and is all ready smarter than me.

What is your earliest memory of Calgary?
Seeing the skyline on my first flight here.

Definitely one of the hardest working skateboarders of our time. He’s a great friend, and admire everything he does.
