Shot at the Dark – Sable Island
Several weeks ago, Shot at the Dark announced a special song writing contest to help bring out some of our cities hidden talent. After dozens of entries, we at Shot at the Dark never wanted the contest to end, hearing new amazingly talented people almost everyday. It wasn’t until a last minute entry came, with a song that not only told a story, but grabbed the attention of our hearts.
Sable Island, a magical local duo from Calgary, stole the show with their entry into our song writing contest with their song “I Will”, a song about the sorrow in every lasting love. Dalyce, a gentle hearted woman, with soft spoken passion driven vocals; and Josh, a strong spirited man with a novel of stories ahead of him, make up this tale of welcoming compassion. When they come together in song, the world stops spinning for a moment, and an silence is brought to our souls.
This was a forever memorable episode of Shot at the Dark, in being taking into their hearts and letting us create an amazing piece of art together. Shot at the Dark is proud to present its 2009 song writing competition winner, Sable Island.
In honor, of winning a spot as our song writing winner, Sable Island was able to spend sometime with our close friend, and amazingly talented photographer Nicole-Irene Dyck, to shoot some photographs for the day. These photos show a side to the story our video may not have, so make sure to check the rest of the photos out at WordsareCameras.com.
Thank you to Dalyce and Josh for being an unreal type of person that no one can ever forget. Congratulations, and we are so excited to see what the future has in store for you!
Thank you to everyone for participating in the contest, all of your songs meant a lot to us.
Thank you for watching.
